Jasper's 'eye' seems to be so keenly rare in today's visual communications field, I thought certainly this had to be a Cooper or Rhode Island graduate.
JASPER'S FIRST STEP into the photography and design world began when he immigrated from India to the US at age 19. Jasper laughs...
"I had a camera and thirty six dollars in my pocket, and I was lucky to get a job washing dishes in a diner in Berkeley."
Jasper forged his way from those humble beginnings to his now-successful business in Los Angeles where he plies his special talents to photography and design for movie posters, video boxes, CD albums, and catalogs. He is entirely self taught in both photography and design.
Clients hire Jasper probably not even noticing the creative abilities I did, but rather because of his ability to handle a job from concept, through photography, design the layouts, selection of paper stocks and ultimately the printing, and delivery to the client's door step. His portrait of "Eddy" was one of our favorites.
He operates a full fledged studio with cameras from 35mm to 8x10 large format, and a complete digital darkroom with high resolution scanners and dye sublimation printer.
Our head graphic above is a black and white photo taken by Jasper for the LAMG DIGEST, the newsletter of the Los Angeles Macintosh Group. Another photo for that publication is called, Edie and demonstrates Jasper's acute visual ability to capture superb images for commercial purposes. The LAMG Digest won Jasper a "Best" Award in the 1999 User Group Academy Awards.
