There's A Fog Upon The Lake

I took this picture in March of this year - a friend of mine who also loves to take pictures suggested I ride down a local county road for some good shots - I saw this scene as I drove down and couldn't get it out of my mind, so as I drove back, I stopped and took several pictures.
I'm particularly drawn to trees and water- the fog on this early morning really added something. (I plan on doing a painting of this scene in the future.)
Butterfly: This was taken in the spring of this year. I had just finished filling out bird feeders and was standing on our front porch, when I noticed several butterflies visting the azaleas. I sneaked back inside for my camera, and spent the better part of an hour chasing the butterflies around, trying for several good shots -- although I got some good ones of a black butterfly, this one is my favorite.
I'm still learning all the things about my camera, but I used the manual focus option on this one to get this shot without getting close enough to scare him away.
Country Road: This is a very recent picture - my husband was driving me around, showing me some of his old 'makeout' places, when we came down this road. It reminds me of the Shire- I almost expected to see Frodo and Bilbo peek out from behind a tree. There's a small swamp off the right side of the road. If you're very quiet, you can hear bullfrogs singing to one another, beavers plopping into the water and dragonflies skimming along the water.
I work and play on a Windows XP computer; at the moment my favorite software is Photoshop. If I had to use one sentence to describe myself, it would be this:
I'm just a country girl living the good life,
which in my case is finding my own success
in helping other folks find their success.

Thank you for sharing, Beth. That first one reminds us of the famous Beatles song... and we've been humming it over and over the whole time putting together this page. And, the "Country Road" piece could easily be in Virginia!
